Sir Alex Ferguson headed the list of managerial award winners at the Northern FWA Dinner in Manchester on November 1st.

The Manchester United manager was joined on the top table by Burnley's Owen Coyle, Scunthorpe's Nigel Adkins - both promotion winners last season - and Ian Chandler of Whitley Bay, who won the FA Vase.

The function at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel was a sell-out and more than £6,000 was raised for children's charities through a raffle, auction and donations.

Northern FWA chairman Paul Hetherington said: "We had another successful night and the total amount of money we have raised over the years for children's charities is now in excess of £76,000.

"Once again, we received great support from the managerial world, with five Premier League managers in the room - Fergie, Coyle and the bosses of Everton, Blackburn and Wigan - David Moyes, Sam Allardyce and Roberto Martinez.

"Sven-Goran Eriksson was also back in Manchester, at the hotel which was his home while he was manager of City."
