FWA 26th Annual Northern Managers Awards Dinner
Sir Alex Ferguson was the guest of honour at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester on Sunday October 26 2008 as the Northen FWA held their 26th Annual Northern Managers Awards Dinner.
The Association honoured Sir Alex once again, this time for his outstanding achievement in leading United to the Barclay's Premier League title for a record tenth time as well as winning the Champions Cup for a second time during his reign with a dramatic penalty shoot out win over Chelsea in Moscow in the 2007-08 season.
The Old Trafford boss was delighted to receive yet another award from the Association and once again showed his support for the FWA by attending to personally collect his award from Northern FWA Chairman Steve Bates.
Also honoured on the night were Stoke manager Tony Pulis for achieving automatic promotion from the Coca Cola Championship. Hull boss Phil Brown was a top table guest for gaining promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-off Final at Wembley while Doncaster's Sean O'Driscoll collected his award for winning the Coca Cola League one play off final.
Jim Gannon was rewarded for taking Stockport into League one via the League two Play Off's before the Association made three Special presentations.
These went to Jim Cassell, Manchester City's highly respected Acadamy Director , for winning the FA Youth Cup with the Blues while Everton Ladies manager Mo Marley was honoured in her absence for giuding The Toffees to a Tesco FA Womens Premier League Cup triumph.
The final award went to Mick Fuller, manager of Kirkham and Wesham for winning the Carlsberg FA Vase.
